On 30th August and 6th September 2025, HAQ staff and volunteers attended a two-day Mental Health First Aid Training conducted at Woolloongabba Community Health Centre. The course aimed to increase awareness, knowledge, and practical skills in responding to mental health challenges and fostering supportive environments. The training aimed to equip staff with practical knowledge and skills to respond effectively to mental health challenges and to foster supportive environments both at work and in the wider community.
During the sessions, participants:
- Developed a better understanding of common mental health challenges
- Learned strategies for self-care and resilience
- Acquired tools to support others in meaningful and effective ways
- Explored approaches to creating safer and more supportive spaces
The training involved interactive exercises, real-life scenarios, and open discussions, providing participants with the confidence and skills to apply their learning in real-world situations.
Mental health is recognized as equally important as physical health. By investing in the training of our team, the Association reinforces its commitment to promoting mental wellbeing and ensuring that all members and the community are supported in leading balanced and fulfilling lives.
